Conservation matters to us
We are always looking for ways to work ethically and use responsible business practices and as part of that commitment, we believe it is important to protect the natural environment.
The distillery is situated in a setting that contains two Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) – the meadow and the river.
This conservation designation means we must manage the land appropriately to conserve the special features of the two sites. We are proud of the fact that we have overseen the management of these vital areas and improved the conditions of these SSSIs.
The river
We are also responsible for the stretch of the River Test that runs through the estate. The Test is world famous for its superb trout fishing and is widely regarded as being one of the most famous chalk streams in the world.
We have a vested interest in conserving this beautiful river, as the water used in the distillation of our gin comes from the same aquifer that gives the river its ‘gin-clear’ waters. One of our responsibilities is to control the water levels, and with the experience and knowledge of our local river contractor, we have seen improved river flow and the welcome return of water voles and other wildlife.

Perhaps our most important ingredient. Water. We take our pure, chalk-filtered water from the aquifer that feeds into the river.

Distilled on the banks of the River Test in Hampshire, England
Our award-winning gin is a classic London Dry Gin with gently honeyed, floral notes and infused with handpicked meadowsweet flowers.
It is distilled in small batches and crafted using pure chalk-filtered water, which comes from the aquifer that feeds into the river, creating an exceptionally smooth gin.

Our special edition Chalkstream Gold Gin is distilled with Maris Otter barley which is grown in the fields bordering the distillery.
Chalkstream Gold Gin has a superbly smooth mouthfeel. Juniper takes centre stage, complemented by the subtle sweetness and unique flavours of Maris Otter barley. Bay and rosemary add a touch of complexity to the bright and botanical blend.

Our Sunset Citrus Gin is inspired by the beautiful ruby red sunsets over the gin-clear waters of the River Test. We have brought together the zesty citrus flavours of pink grapefruit and pomelo with the subtle sweetness of rosehip to create a uniquely refreshing gin and tonic.

Our special edition Spiced Rum is distilled with riverside botanicals and Caribbean spirit. The result is an English-inspired, smooth Spiced Rum.
